BBC developing its own household voice service

Although 20 percent of British households already own a computerized voice service, such as Amazon Echo or Google Assistant, the government-funded British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) will launch its own version called Beeb, according to a report in the Guardian newspaper and TechCrunch. What’s different is that this service won’t be sold as a physical device but will be built into the BBC’s website and operate via people’s own computer-media devices such as personal computers or smartphones. The new device is currently undergoing tests to understand various British regional accents.
